Singapore is a really nice city and the Singapore Tourism Board had been generous with me and my husband to have invited us to travel there and stay at the Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel. I’ve been so to many hotels but this one is indeed one of the best I’ve been to in a long while. While I have previously travelled to other hotels, the Swissotel Merchant Court stands out from all the others. The difference? Service. Because that’s what it’s all about.
Check in is a breeze and there are no long lines at reception upon arrival. Unlike other hotels that keep you waiting, Swissotel Merchant Court takes care of everything for you the minute you step into the very plain-looking, spartan lobby. That’s what I noticed when I got there was that there were no grand staircases, no opulent chandeliers. Just a wide reception, concierge and cashier desks. These were wide enough so you don’t crowd during check-in, which I really appreciated. Looks are deceiving and I now realize opulent lobbies are not the benchmark of an opulent hotel. Swissotel Merchant Court is really big on the little things that make you smile. I know I did.
Upon entering I immediately spotted the espresso machine. What? An espresso machine? In a hotel room? Yes, they have one in every standard room. I couldn’t believe it. Everyday, housekeeping would stock my room with free espressos, both with caffeine and another decaf two filters each. Of course, there is still the free drinking water (2 bottles of 500 ml), 3 in 1 coffee mixes and a selection of teas. We never got to finish it because we were both always out of the hotel room, but I think it would have been a vacation too if we did stay in the hotel.
Whenever we call them, they address us by our names. How many hotels do you know would extend this personalized a service as first class? Wake up calls are so pleasant to receive. They were able to granted every tiny request that we would make.
The bathroom is so clean and has a complete line of toiletries, including lotion and shower gels. Towels and bathrobes are available for two people.
They also have an ironing board, umbrella and flashlight in the closet! It’s a wonder they’ve thought of everything in this hotel.
Do stay at the Swissotel Merchant Court when in Singapore. I will return to this hotel in our next family vacation. Many thanks to Jack Chua and Yvonne Chua of Swissotel Merchat Court for the wonderful service and the royal treatment.
I really enjoyed your vacation. I wasn’t there, but I got a bag out of it! wehehehe!!!

I will take note of the hotel name and if I do visit Singapore in the nearer future, I’ll make sure I stay there. Bloghopping, hope you don’t mind me snoopin’ around.
